Ingredients
- 1/2 kg beef Indian
- 1/2 cup coconut pieces
- 7 - 8 nos red chili whole
- 1/4 cup coriander seed
- 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorn
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger garlic crushed each
- 1/2 cup shallot chopped
- 3 nos green chili
- 3 pinchs fennel powder
- 2 nos star anise
- cinnamon small piece
- 2 nos cloves
- 2 nos cardomom
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1/4 cup water
- coconut oil
- 2 nos plantain leaf

Instructions
- clean beef and cut in to small pieces.wash thoroughly in running water.then keep it aside in a strainer.
- heat a pan and dry roast red chilly,coriander seeds,peppercorn ,star anise, cloves cardamom and cinnamon in a medium heat;stir well until you get a nice aroma and the spices turned to light dark in color.then transfer to grinder;make a fine powder.then add 2-3 teaspoon water to this and grind well.
- add beef in to a bowl marinate this with the grounded paste,salt,turmeric powder and fennel powder.keep this in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- heat oil in pressure cooker add curry leaves in to it.saute well.then add shallot saute till shallot become soft.then add crushed ginger, garlic and green chili,saute well till raw smell goes.
- then add coconut pieces in to it saute for few minutes.then add marinated beef pieces in to it.saute well for few minutes,after that add 1/4 cup water then cover with a lid.cook well(approximately 4 whistles.).switch of the stove.let the pressure goes naturally.
- open the lid .check salt consistency,if there is water left after pressure cooking cook till water evaporates.then switch off the stove.
- clean and heat plantain leaf directly over the flame and keep aside
- separate beef in to two equal parts.and place each portion in to the plantain leaves.fold all sides of the leaf so that beef will be in the center and look like a kizhi,tight the top with small piece of plantain leaf.
- steam each kizhi for 2-3 minutes.
- serve with Kerala paratha or kappa
