
(Malabar style sweet and sour mango recipe)
Mangoes are my favorite,I love mangoes,and this yummy recipe is a typical Malabar mophla recipe.Malabar cuisine is famous for snacks and non veg dishes.But we have variety of vegetarian dishes too,This is my favorite mango preparation,and I learned this recipe from my dearest Bushara thatha and sofi thatha.

Last week was a pure vegetarian week so i tried my favorite veggies.the preparation methode is very simple you need only few easily available ingredients.This sweet and sour mangoes are really tasty and i am sure you will love this..The sweetness of the gravy and bites of melting mango slices and the final spiciness YUM….

- 2 nos mango mangoes Raw / semi ripe es (medium size)
- 1/2 cup jaggery grated
- 3/4 tablespoon chili powder red
- 2 nos green chili
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 pinchs salt
- 1/4 Cup water

- Wash and peel the skin of Mangoes (removing the peel is optional.if you want you can keep the skin).then cut mangoes in to thick small cubes.
- wash and slice green chili,keep aside
- heat oil in a thick bottom pan (cheena chatty),add mustard seeds.when it splutter add sliced green chili.saute well.then add sliced mango pieces saute in a medium flame till mango pieces become soft'
- then add red chili powder,saute well.then add one or two pinch of salt.stir well.
- Now add grated Jaggery.Saute well in a low flame,add 1/4 cup water and cook till gravy become thick .once done remove from fire and transfer to a bowl.
- serve with rice as a side dish.
Note:-I used 3/4 part of one jaggery cube(1 aani). hard and light color jaggery
so if you are using the dark color soft one adjust the amount.
