
(Fish cooked in a coconut milk based gravy with mangoes)
Hope all of you had a wonderful and safe Diwali celebrations.Today I am here with a creamy and delicious fish curry recipe.fish cooked in a thick coconut milk based gravy with mangoes.mild tangy and perfect with Appam.

I adapt the recipe from Vanitha magazine and I love this curry.You can check my another fish mango curry here.Most of the ingredients are same but the preparation method is slightly different.this curry goes well with Appam or you can serve it with steamed rice or chapathi.

Ingredients
- 350 g king fish
- 1 mangoe (50g)
- 1 small teaspoon tamarind pulp
- 1 onion
- 1 small teaspoon ginger chopped
- 1 small teaspoon garlic chopped
- 5 - 6 green chili
- 2 tomato
- 1 1/2 tablespoons kashmiri chili powder
- 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 small teaspoon fenugreek
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon coriander leaves chopped
- 2 - 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- salt

Instructions
- clean and cut fish in to cubes or slice in to medium thick pieces.wash well drain water and keep aside
- wash and finely chop onion and tomatoes.slit green chili length wise and cut mangoes in to long thin pieces. keep aside.
- Heat oil in an earthen pot(mun chatty).add fenugreek seeds and let it splutter,then add curry leaves,chopped onion,chopped garlic,chopped ginger,and green chili.saute well until it become golden brown
- now add chopped tomatoes and saute well till puree comes out.now slightly mash the entire things and make it like a paste.
- now add chili powder, turmeric powder and tamarind pulp (puli pizhinchathu). saute well in a medium flame,
- now add water .mix well and let it boil.
- then add fish pieces to the boiling gravy,mix well (swirl the pot),add salt and cook in a medium flame.
- when the fish become half cooked add mango pieces to the curry and cook well.
- once fish pieces cooked well add coconut milk and coriander leaves.mix well (swirl the pot.do not use a laddle)and check salt consistency,.don't let it boil
- switch of the stove serve hot with appam or steamed rice.
I’m a sucker for fish curry and I love the colour of this one!

Sujitha, I tried your recipe and it was my first ever and it was mind boggling. Top of the tops! Thanks a lot. Three things I did in action to your instructions were: to marinate fish in salt and lemon juice. 2) I added tomato purée along with fresh tomatoes. And 3) I added a little sugar to overcome the intense flavours that were due to the lemony tamarind tomatoey sourness.
