  1. clean and peel the skin of beetroot.Chop finely.
  2. remove the skin of shallots and garlic slice it.slice green chili.coarsely grind coconut
  3. heat oil in a pan(cheena chatty).add mustard seeds.when mustard seeds splutter add sliced shallot and garlic saute well till it become soft.
  4. then add chopped beetroot, green chili, coconut,salt and turmeric.
  5. sprinkle little water and mix well.cover with a lid and cook in a medium-low flame till done.
  6. open lid and stir well until the excess water evaporates and the thoran become dry.
  7. switch of the stove and serve with rice.
Recipe Notes

reduce green chili if you don’t like spicy thoran
